something-prettty:

Mark: No, you’re not dying. Do you hear me? You don’t die today, I love you.
Lexie: You don’t have to say it because I said it.
Mark: I do. I love you. I’ve always been in love with you. I will always be in love with you. Which is why you have to stay alive. We - we -…

If I murdered someone she’s the person I’d call to help me drag the corpse across the living room floor.

Peeta’s hijacking from Johanna’s POV.

It’s barely a whisper when I first hear it; she’s a mutt, kill her. He’s sound asleep, muttering his way through another restless night. I’ve grown so used to hearing Katniss! and please, leave her alone and I love you, please, no. This is new. It doesn’t even sound like Peeta. I wonder if he’s aware of what is happening to him; I wonder if he knows why they take him into that room and bring him back without a scratch. Of course, he must know to an extent. But does he know how serious this is? How much they can take? What they can turn him into? I’ve heard about this before; brainwashing, probably using tracker jacker venom. When he wakes the next morning, I press myself up against the wall and whisper to him. I tell him about Katniss Everdeen, about how he loves her, about how he has to try to keep hold of her or they’ll win. I think they hear - no, I know they hear - because two hours later they’re ready for me, they shave my hair off and I’m being shoved into a tank of water. I wonder what they’ll do. I’ll give them nothing, whatever awaits.

Katniss and Peeta, 25 years later, are still staying strong. They still live in the Victor’s Village with their two children.

After the war and after things settled down, Peeta went back to baking. He remodeled one of the empty Victor’s homes into a bakery. People from other Districts moved into the other houses and Peeta’s bakery business was booming. The men in the Victor’s Village combined their skills together to rebuild District 12 as best as they could. It’s not as large as it used to be, but it’s still big enough to be considered a District. Currently it’s overpopulated and more building preparations are being made.

While Peeta began working at the bakery, Katniss started to hunt again. Now, she runs her own butcher shop. Before Greasy Sae died, she taught Katniss more cooking skills.

It took 15 years for Katniss and Peeta to have children. Katniss fought it as best as she could— she didn’t want to bring her children into this world after everything she had just been through. But Peeta persisted. He loved Katniss with all of his heart and he wanted to share something with her that no one else could— the love of their children. To Peeta, it was proof that he really did love Katniss and that what President Snow did to him could never be done again.

Katniss and Peeta’s love is still broadcasted for others to see across Panem. Not like it used to be; no, this time it’s real. Once a year Caesar Flickerman will travel to their homes for little updates on how they are doing. Katniss and Peeta are living proof of the war and of how love can conquer all.

Their life isn’t as polished and perfect as it seems, though. Katniss still has nightmares. Of course, Peeta is always there to make it better. And once in a while, Peeta will have a flashback or become hi-jacked slightly, but once Katniss reassures him that it was all fake, he’s okay again. Sometimes it takes hours. Sometimes, it takes days.

Their children are in school now and of course they have heard of the Games. They know their parents played a part in it and in the war. Their son is too young to really care, but their daughter, she’s inquisitive. Sometimes her questions get Katniss so upset that she bursts into tears.

Someday, Peeta and Katniss will tell their children. They’ll tell their children about how the war stole the lives of all the ones they love. They’ll tell them how because of the stunt they pulled with the berries, an entire nation crumbled. They’ll tell them how Katniss became the symbol of the revolution and brought down the entire government. They’ll even tell about the hi-jacking of Peeta.

But most importantly, they will tell their children how they overcame it. They will tell their children that their love for one another was strengthened through all of the tears, blood, war, deaths, and lies. And they hope that someday, their children will find love like their own.
